So we all want our Media Centers to be as quiet as possible. So we all want our fans to run at the lowest possible speed. There’s many ways off doing this, installing high performance low noise fans and regulating the speed at which they operate. Controlling this can be done in several ways; limiting the voltage or by using a piece of software, SpeedFan for instance. Well, if you are using SpeedFan for this you probably always wanted to be able to watch the information collected by SpeedFan inside your Media Center on your television. Now you can! System Monitor for Media Center takes the information collected by SpeedFan and displays this on your television.

The people over at Rocketboom have made some changes that resulted in an error in Rocketboom for Media Center. This new version has been changed so you can view the 'most populair video log on the Internet' on you Media Center again. The plug-in now shows the 5 most recent episodes and it has been changed so the 'Custom viewport' is now in the 16:9 widescreen format, the same aspect ratio as the video's are shot in now. The new version can be found in the 'mcesoft plug-ins' category in the downloads section.Write Comment (487 Comments) |

Not shortly after Rocketboom for Media Center was released Stefan M. Sydel -sms- , one of the Rocketboom field correspondents, contacted me and asked if it was possible to create a plug-in to make rebell.tv available on a Media Center. Since he had all needed already in place, an rss stream and the vlogs, it wasn't really hard to create a new plug-in: Rebell.tv for Media Center. Now you can watch Stefan's vlog about "post-national democratic care and justice" on your Television. Stefan aims his vlog at the German speaking part of Europe, but some off his vlogs are in English so I think others can enjoy it too. Write Comment (599 Comments) |

After giving us the 'fun with DVR-MS' article Microsofts Technical Editor for MSDN Magazine, Stephen Toub does it again and produces a new article about writing plug-ins for Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition and again provides us with some sample code. This time he starts off by describing how to make a simple background plug-in, but caries on to where he describes how to make a 'position changer plug-in'. In the article Stephen's says: "As a developer, when I find a perceived gap in a product's functionality, my first inclination is to ask whether I can write any code to fix it." and we at mcesoft think a whole lot of developers for Media Center feel the same way.
